NEMLEC Police Foundation Hosts Successful Beyond Sandy Hook Event
DRACUT — The NEMLEC Police Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce that it hosted a successful Beyond Sandy Hook seminar this week at Regis College.
On Monday, June 5, the Foundation welcomed 120 members from police departments in Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Burlington, Chelmsford, Concord, Groton, Lincoln R.I., Middlesex Community College, North Reading, Norwell, Orleans, Pepperell, Phillipston, Reading, Stoneham, Suffolk University, Tewksbury, Waltham, Wenham, Winchester and Woburn for the training. Members of School Threat and Response System (STARS) and Pamela Perini Consulting also attended.
Connecticut State Police Instructor Daniel Jewiss, who was the case officer for the Sandy Hook Shooting, and Connecticut State Police Lt. Eric Murray led the six-hour seminar that highlighted critical analysis and lessons learned during and after the shooting.
“We are so pleased to be able to offer these kinds of presentations to ensure that law enforcement, schools and businesses are prepared for any situation, even the worst-case scenarios,” said Foundation Director Sharon Crowley. “This seminar was particularly unique because it covered an active shooter situation from dispatch to community healing and everything in between.”
Presentations focused on active shooter dispatch, crisis response planning, investigative considerations and community recovery.
