The annual NEMLEC Police Foundation Golf Tournament is our largest yearly fundraising effort, bringing together our partners in the law enforcement and business communities for a day of food, golf, and recognition of the work done by the North Eastern Massachusetts law Enforcement Council.
This year, the tournament will be held on Monday, May 22 at Four Oaks Country Club in Dracut, Mass. Click here for photos from last year’s tournament!
The NEMLEC Foundation was formed in 2005 and this event is held to raise funds directly to benefit the 3,800 plus officers in nearly 60 NEMLEC communities.
With funds raised in previous years, we have been able to offer prestigious training programs to hundreds of police officers in Middlesex and Essex counties…as well as elite training to NEMLEC units. Some examples include:
- School Threat Assessment Response System (STARS) Trainings
- Trained 150 detectives through our Two Week In-depth Criminal Investigation Training
- Supervisor Training through Roger Williams University
- Comprehensive motorcycle training for the NEMLEC Motor Unit
- Advanced Tactical Training (SWAT/RRT)
- K9 Training
In addition to the above training, the Foundation has been able to give a portion of the proceeds to Cops For Kids With Cancer. This non-profit organization helps raise money on behalf of law enforcement to help families of children with cancer.
The NEMLEC Police Foundation hosted a School Safety Summit on May 1, 2013 at Regis College in Weston. The STARS Team has been nationally recognized by the National Association of School Resource Officers. Many states have begun to adopt the superior procedures set by the NEMLEC STARS Team. They were quickly onsite offering assistance this past year in Danvers after the tragic death of one of their beloved teachers.
NEMLEC played a vital role during the 2013 marathon tragedy. NEMLEC unit members, police chiefs and police personnel from other towns were quick to assist in any way they could. Watertown Police Chief Edward Deveau stated, “My town had the resources of literally dozens of police departments who were helping to keep our residents safe that Friday. So many of them were on the front lines in this manhunt, and yet all of them had the same goal, of protecting the people who were endangered by this suspect being at large.” Specifically, Deveau thanked his brother departments from within the NEMLEC region.
The NEMLEC Police Foundation relies solely on donations from corporations like yours. With compromising budget constraints in cities and towns in Massachusetts, many key programs, trainings and equipment have been cut. This Foundation works with other organizations to effectively train police personnel to ensure each community has the highest level of police service. In helping our Foundation, businesses and organizations in Massachusetts become valued members of the police community. They play a vital role in making these communities safer for all that live and work in these cities and towns.
Please consider sponsoring and/or donating an auction or raffle item to our 2017 tournament. The brochure below describes the sponsorship opportunities.
